I illustrated this piece a good while back when working on the Clockwork Orange piece. I had every intention of using her for a gig poster when the right band came along. I started to get very protective of it and it never “fit” right with a band. So, I decided to make it into an art print. The phrase above comes from Friedrich Schiller’s 1798 poem “Song of the Bell”. It is latin for “I call the living. I mourn the dead.” It is a traditional phrase to be inscribed on church bells. This bell brings people to church for mass & marks the passing of a loved one for funerals. I like the concept this phrase creates because the art is of an attractive woman (*calling the living) and the visible skeleton (mourning the dead).
3-color, hand-pulled screen print on 19″x25″ 80lb French Speckletone black paper.
Signed & Numbered Limited edition of 60.
I’m loving this texture that came through evenly across the entire print.

This is a need, not a want.
Beautiful. Just beautiful Aaron.
So cool. I wish it were one of those where the skeleton were done in glow-in-the-dark ink!!!
