My first gallery show was everything I had hoped for. I couldn’t be more pleased with how it all turned out. The crowd was amazing and sales were very good. Resulting in a total of 4 hours of sleep across the span of 5 days, everything was completed and hung. Like a proud parent of 16 children, I finished exhausted, worn out physically and emotionally. Bucket list… check.

I’m so thankful to all the close friends who lent a hand in helping me pull everything together. Jason Roemer, my cohort in this show wrote three short stories on which the three 3′x3′ wood panel pieces were based on. Through a process of screen printing and hand-painting, these portraits were created and then we used a wax paper reverse print burnish to stain the stories into the exposed wood around the portrait. A very interesting and challenging process but the finished result was an extremely satisfying story-meets-art experience. We finished these pieces off by coating them in resin that gave them an ephemeral glowing sheen that couldn’t be accomplished with simply glass and frame.
Other friends, Peter Lockhart, Jonny Gotham, Travis McCleery, Tyler Poling, Nate Greuel & Eric Stine helped with everything from reclaiming and coating screens to sanding wood and painting frames. I feel very blessed to have such a crew of hard-working and truly selfless friends.
Most of all, I’m insanely indebted to my beautiful wife, AmiJo. She puts up with so much crap with me working crazy hours, not coming to bed when I’m cranking through the night, and the freak-out moments of me worrying stuff isn’t getting done on schedule. She helped out with practically every piece and was the sole reason I still have a day job as she is better than any alarm clock to wake me from my coma. I couldn’t do all this without her.
Check out the pieces below. A few are still available for sale. If you are interested in purchasing a piece not marked as sold, you can visit the works for the month of September at the Big Car Gallery If you are not around Indianapolis, you can send me an email to request a shipping quote.

Awesome work! So great that you’re selling stuff!
The framed screen prints on the birch board look amazing! Looks like the event turned out really well ^_^
Incredible work as always. And I LOVE that you’re incorporating writing into your art! Hat tip to Jason Roemer.
I love your work! As a fellow artist, I’m envious. I do more commercial stuff (corporate ID, publication layout and Web design) but I miss my fine art roots. The Alex DeLarge portrait is aces. All of them, really!
Was really hoping this was going to be about the TV show.
It was a joy looking through your stuff, Aaron! You’ve got an amazing talent and you use it well!
